Last night we slept Darwyn in Max's bedroom for the first time. I can't believe how well it worked.
Max awoke at 10:30pm with a nightmare, screaming for mommy and daddy at the top of his lungs. I went in, comforted him, and tucked him back into bed. Darwyn slept like a log through the whole episode.
Darwyn awoke at 3am for her usual feeding. Greta went to get her and Max never stirred.
Given the propensity our children have for waking at the slightest noise outside their rooms, (e.g. dog shaking, toilet flushing, door closing, etc.) I'm rather shocked to see that each of them sleeps so soundly while the other screams in the adjacent bed.
Here's hoping every other night goes as smoothly as last night.

ReplyDeleteAlso, evidence is that you are still short on sleep. Spelling of daughter's name in the title gives you away ;)
So, did you and Greta sleep better without Darwyn in your room? Sleep is such a precious thing that you take for granted until a crying child takes it away from you! Our experience was much like yours when we moved Kaitlyn into Ethan's room. They shared a room for a year and then, when we moved into our new house and they each had their own room, they missed each other and Ethan kept asking why they couldn't still share a room! Hope you have many more smooth nights!
ReplyDeleteMine totally slept through one another making noise, too. In fact, Eric was such a sound sleeper that we taught Anthony he was allowed to climb in with him and play with his ears and cuddle until he fell back asleep.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure we could get away with that much B! Results since that fist night have been mixed. Most nights are good, but last night was terrible. They both woke the other guy up every time.
ReplyDeleteI'm heartened to hear that your kids liked being in the same room Suzie. That is my hope in the long run....
